NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR PINK ELEPHANT’S ANNUAL ITIL® AWARDS
Award Winners Recognized At Annual Conference In Las Vegas, February 2007
TORONTO, ON – November 7, 2006 – Pink Elephant is now accepting nominations for the ITIL Awards, to be presented at
the 11th Annual International IT Service Management Conference and Exhibition taking place February 18-21, 2007 at
the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.
Since the United Kingdom's Office of Government Commerce (OGC) first developed ITIL in the late 1980s, it has gained
recognition as an international IT industry standard and a framework to support IT governance initiatives.
“For years Pink Elephant has worked diligently to increase awareness of the best practice framework on a global scale.”
says Pink Elephant President David Ratcliffe. “Part of this work has included the introduction of an awards program to
further illustrate and promote ITIL’s benefits. Every year we’re always delighted that the ITIL Awards program showcases
those success stories that really deserve public recognition.”
Companies and individuals are eligible to submit nominations for either ITIL Project of the Year or ITIL Practitioner of
the Year. Pink Elephant’s executive team selects these award winners based on the following criteria:
ITIL Project of the Year
This award is presented to an organization. To receive a nomination, the organization must have:
- A clearly defined project with dedicated management
- A project start date occurring at least 6 months before the conference start date
- Clearly documented and communicated goals/objectives
- A demonstrated and significant commitment to ITIL best practices with involvement of certified staff
- Documented, measurable project benefits
ITIL Practitioner of the Year
This award is presented to an individual who:
- Shows significant commitment to ITIL best practices
- Began ITIL involvement at least 6 months before the conference start date (February 18, 2007)
- Is committed to sharing knowledge about ITIL outside of employer organization
- Works for a practitioner organization
Past winning project teams and individuals have come from such organizations as BP, PEMCO, BMO Financial Group, Nationwide,
Procter & Gamble, the Ontario Government, and Domtar, Inc.
A third award, ITIL Certification Student of the Year, is presented to the individual with the highest exam score in the ITIL
Service Manager course – the most advanced and rigorous level of ITIL education. Examination institutions provide nominations
for this award, and past winners have come from Microsoft Canada Co., BearingPoint, and London Life Insurance Co.
Finally, Pink Elephant presents a fourth ITIL award that requires no nomination, but is determined at the conference by the
attendees themselves – ITIL Case Study Of The Year. Eligible award recipients include practitioners delivering case studies
that demonstrate concrete examples of successful ITIL implementation, and exclude vendor or Pink Elephant sessions.
The ITIL Awards nomination form is available on Pink Elephant’s website (www.pinkelephant.com) and must be submitted by
December 15, 2006. For further information on the nomination process for the ITIL Awards, please contact George Spalding,

PINK ELEPHANT ANNOUNCES WORLDWIDE DELIVERY OF COBIT® FOUNDATIONS COURSE
Foreign Private Issuers Affected By SOX Benefit From Auditor-Designed COBIT
TORONTO, ON – October 11, 2006 – Pink Elephant today announced its COBIT Foundations course, launched in North
America at the IT Governance Symposium in August 2006, is now available globally for organizations seeking a framework
to meet legislative compliance. COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology) is complementary to
ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) for managing IT services, and is an especially practical framework for US-listed foreign
issuers who are subject to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
COBIT Foundations participants will better understand the levels of security and control necessary to protect company
assets through the development of an IT governance model.
The in-class, instructor-led course format supports the intensive course content, which covers:
- An overview of the COBIT’s 34 control objectives within four domains: planning and organization; acquisition
and implementation; delivery and support; and monitoring
- An understanding of how IT management issues are affecting today’s organizations
- An understanding of the benefits of using COBIT, including how it meets the requirement for an IT governance
framework
- The fundamentals required to apply the core content of COBIT
- How COBIT is used as the umbrella framework and integrator for other standards (ISO 17799/27001, ISO 20000) and
best practices (ITIL®, CMM and PRINCE2)
The Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), who created COBIT along with the IT Governance Institute
(ITGI) in 1992, administers and marks the COBIT Foundations examination, which is scheduled on the last day of the course.
“As COBIT was originally designed by the auditing community to measure IT, it is not surprising to see public companies
turning to the framework, especially to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley section 404,” says Pink Elephant President David Ratcliffe.
“It made sense for us to extend COBIT Foundations to our global customers affected by the current legislative climate. Beyond
the compliance aspect, COBIT provides generally accepted indicators of what a well run IT organization should look like.”
The full course syllabus with presentation locations, dates, prices and registration options can be found at www.pinkelephant.com.
Customers can also register for COBIT Foundations by calling their local Pink Elephant office. There are no mandatory prerequisites;
however, work experience in governance, process improvement or IT services is recommended.

EXIN introduces a new certificate in Service Quality Management
ISO/IEC 20000/SQM
EXIN, the worldwide Examination Institute for Information Science, has launched a new Service Quality
Management Certificate based on ISO 20000. This Foundation Certificate in Service Quality Management
will also become part of a new learning track for the Service Quality Management consultant. This track
consists of ITIL® Foundation, Service Quality Management Foundation, a new ITIL® Service and Process
Improvement certificate and a new Advanced certificate in Service Quality Management. In this track the
Manager’s Certificate in IT Service Management can be used instead of ITIL® Service and Process Improvement.
ISO/IEC 20000
The ITIL® based British standard for Service Quality Management, BS 15000, has become the international
standard, ISO 20000. This is the outcome of the fast track procedure within ISO started in 2005. IT service
providers are being challenged to prove they will be able to provide the required service quality and to
that end have adequate service management processes in place. The ISO 20000 certificate is aimed at
providing the required evidence for customers that the IT service provider has an effective and reliable
Service Quality Management system which has been audited against international best practices in IT Service
Management.
The predecessor of ISO 20000 shows such a certification program for IT service providers will generate a
demand for training and certification, for example for consultants and auditors. It is to be expected that
also a more general interest in the subject will be created amongst professionals in IT Service Management,
both on the customer’s and the supplier’s side. In the near future, knowledge and understanding - at least
of the essentials - of Service Quality Management based on ISO 20000, will probably be a requirement for
many job roles in IT Service Management.
Foundation certificate
EXIN launched the Service Quality Management certification program in June 2006, starting with the Foundation
Certificate in Service Quality Management. The multiple choice exam for this exam in English became available
as from July 1 2006.
The Foundation Certificate in Service Quality Management will be supplementary to the ITIL® Foundation
Certificate in IT Service Management and both together are meant to become the required background for
professionals working for an ISO 20000 certified IT service provider.
Target audience
EXIN aims at a role in certification of professionals in Service Quality Management based on ISO 20000. This
target audience includes IT Service Management staff of IT service providers with an interest in Service
Quality Management even if such an organization is not (yet) certified. The Foundation Certificate in Service
Quality Management is especially aimed at this wider audience.
Syllabus & pilot
The syllabus for the Foundation Certificate in Service Quality Management is designed to provide knowledge on
Quality Management, especially on ISO 20000 and on certification and auditing based on ISO 20000. The focus
will be on the basic concepts of ISO 20000. The examination consists of 40 multiple choice questions.
EXIN has organized a successful pilot for this exam for Service Quality Management Foundation this summer.
Interested training providers are invited to contact EXIN to be kept informed about the scoping, development
and production of requirements and examinations.

EXIN (Examination Institute for Information Science) is an independent, worldwide IT examination provider with
more than 40 years of experience. EXIN is specialized in establishing educational requirements and developing

Service Management and contains a comprehensive description of the processes involved in managing IT
infrastructures. EXIN is well-known worldwide for its ITIL® based certificates in IT Service Management. With

Proxy Networks Introduces New Software Developer Kit Version 5.10 for OEM Solution Partners
New Proxy SDK Enables Proxy Call Center and Help Desk Solution Providers to Build New Features of Proxy Remote
Control 5.10 and Proxy Remote Gateway Server 5.10 into their Own Applications
Cambridge, MA (November 7, 2006) – Proxy Networks, a leading provider of reliable, low cost remote control and screen
recording products for remote support, training, network management, compliance and collaboration, announced today the
general availability of Software Developer Kit (SDK) Version 5.10. This new release enables Proxy solution partners to
integrate the latest features from Proxy Remote Control 5.10 and Remote Gateway Server 5.10 into their call center and
help desk offerings.
Proxy Remote Control 5.10 and Proxy Gateway Server 5.10, which were introduced earlier this fall, offer new features and
enhancements to Proxy’s reliable, easy-to-use remote control products that are installed on several million PCs and
servers around the world. New features available in the SDK 5.10 include real-time screen recording and playback,
centralized access and security management, enhanced reporting, and multi-monitor support.
“For over a decade, Proxy has developed a reputation for scalable, efficient remote control technology and a track
record of delivering these capabilities in a package that can be easily integrated into partner applications. Proxy
SDK 5.10 continues that tradition by delivering our latest features, including real-time screen recording and multi-monitor
support, with the APIs and technical support needed to easily integrate them into our partners’ applications,” said Andy Kim,
CEO of Proxy Networks, Inc.
Proxy’s solution partners can leverage powerful remote access management capabilities from the new Proxy Gateway Server 5.10,
which functions as a virtual router enabling customers to tie large numbers of PCs and servers into a single, centrally-managed
remote access network. Proxy Gateway Server maintains persistent connections with each of these hosts, allowing help desk
professionals and network administrators to access and take over any machine instantly. The result is that remote support,
network management and collaboration can be setup and executed more quickly and efficiently throughout the enterprise.
Proxy SDK 5.10 also features multi-monitor support, allowing users to capture the entire virtual Windows desktop distributed
across multiple displays on remote machines. Multi-monitor support is particularly useful for collaboration and training in
industries where large displays are commonplace.
Proxy SDK V5.10 is available today. Existing partners will receive notification shortly with location of new software and
upgrade keys. New partners are invited to try out the Proxy SDK, which provides easy-to-use APIs and comprehensive documentation.
Please contact Proxy Networks at 617-453-2700 or email partners@proxynetworks.com for more information.
