informed recommendations on industry trends and directions, and to assist the
ITIM Association in documenting and communicating these trends to the
membership and the industry at large.

Steve Birgfeld is CompuCom’s Chief Information Officer. Steve came to CompuCom from Rare Medium, a professional services company, where he served as Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Information Officer and oversaw all internal operations, including IT, human resources, finance and accounting, research, and facilities. Prior to that, he was the Director of Information Technology for Quaker State Corporation where he bore responsibility for the company's nationwide infrastructure and SAP ERP implementation and Web applications. He also led IT integration efforts for acquired companies, as well as for the company's merger with Pennzoil.
Additionally, Steve previously served as the Director of Business Operations at Booz-Allen & Hamilton, Inc., and Director of Computing Standards for Martin Marietta Corporation.
Steve has also served on numerous technology panels and as a guest speaker at trade shows and vendor seminars. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Maryland.

Jonathan Feldman serves as Director of Information Technology Services for the City of Asheville, NC. Prior to this, he was Director of Professional Services for a consulting company in southeast Georgia, providing security and network infrastructure services to the military, healthcare, financial services, and law enforcement markets.
Jonathan has written, consulted, and taught extensively on high performance IT security and reliability topics, notably as co-author of “Maximum Security” and author of “Teach Yourself Network Troubleshooting.” His writing has been translated internationally into many different languages. While his topics can be quite technical, readers call his writing, “funny and easy to read.” As an award-winning Network Computing contributing editor, he has authored sometimes-controversial pieces on open source, business analysis, and IT governance.
A speaker at many regional and national venues, including regional financial and healthcare IT seminars, PC Expo, CNet Radio, NetSeminar, The Institute of Internal Auditors, and the United States Army, he has been active in the community with organizations such as Infragard, the FBI public-private partnership for infrastructure protection. Ron repots to the office of the CIO, and is responsible for managing the worldwide computing operations for Intel, including worldwide infrastructure, productivity and enterprise solutions and IT customer support.
Ron joined Intel in 2000 as the Global Contract Center manager. In this role he was responsible for IT Customer Services and the 24x7x365 worldwide Technical Assistance Centers (TAC).
Ron has worked in the Customer Support Industry since 1982. Prior to joining Intel, he was Director of Support Services for a nationally recognized organization supplying the education industry with administrative software for 10 years, and also Director of Operations for an international outsourcing firm with responsibility for delivering IT operations for Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. and Europe.

Brian Johnson joined CA Technology Services in 2004 and is the Worldwide Practice Manager with specialization in IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), after leaving key leadership roles as the director of product development in Pink Elephant (one of the world’s leading ITIL organizations dedicated to ITIL best practices) and director of knowledge management for the UK’s Office of Government Commerce.
Brian, a foremost expert in ITIL, was part of the UK Government team that created the ITIL approach. Working for the UK's Central Computer and Telecom Agency (now part of the Office of Government Commerce), Brian authored many of the ITIL books and designed both the ITIL business perspective series and version two of ITIL. He founded the ITIL user group (itSMF--and is now honorary life vice president).
Altogether, Brian has authored or co-authored more than 15 titles on ITIL and related subjects. Putting theory into practice, he led both the first successful government implementation of ITIL best practices at National Savings, as well as one of the first private-sector examples at General Accident.

Peter is based in Forrester’s Frankfurt office.
Peter came to Forrester from META Group, where he advised META clients around EMEA on
various IT operations and data center topics. A 24-year veteran of the IT industry, he has
extensive experience in IT hardware, software, and services. Prior to joining META, Peter was
the marketing director for E-Services at Hewlett-Packard in the US. Working in HP’s EServices.
Solutions Business Unit, he was responsible for marketing HP’s new business ventures
with Internet companies. Before being posted to the US in 1998, Peter worked for HP in Germany
for 17 years, holding a number of national and international marketing positions, including
program manager for HP Consulting and Internet marketing manager for HP Germany. In 1985,
Peter wrote the original business plan for HP’s newly formed Open View Division in Boeblingen,
Germany and led the company’s launch in to the systems management business.
Peter has been a popular speaker at many seminars and trade shows and represented HP on
German TV. Prior to joining HP in 1981, he worked in the finance department of Ford Motor
Company in London.
Peter holds a B.Sc. degree in physics and geophysics from the University of Liverpool and is an
associate member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants in the UK. He has lived
in Germany for 24 years and speaks fluent German and English.

Shannon Howle Schelin, PhD, is the director of the Center for Public Technology at the University of North Carolina’s School of Government. Dr. Schelin designed and implemented the first local government Chief Information Officers Certification program in the nation and successfully graduated the inaugural class in November 2005. She has taught numerous courses on public sector information systems across the nation, including IT investment strategies, embracing technology, project management, and stakeholder engagement in technology-enabled government.
Dr. Schelin serves as the faculty liaison to the North Carolina Local Government Information Systems Association (NCLGISA). In this capacity, she provides advising services to local governments and state agencies on a variety of topics, including strategic information technology planning, security planning, management and technical audits, grantsmanship, RFP/RFI development, software alternatives analysis, infrastructure assessments, human resources, organizational development, procurement and project management, and, policy guidance and articulation.
Dr. Schelin has numerous publications on public sector information systems, including Humanizing IT: Advice from the Experts, with G. David Garson; “Training for Digital Government,” in Digital Government; and “E-Government: An Overview,” in Public Information Technology: Policy and Management Issues. In addition, she offers several monographs and research briefs through her work with the Center for Public Technology.
Shannon received her Ph.D. in Public Administration with a concentration in Public Sector Information Systems from North Carolina State University in 2003. She received her M.P.A. from UNC Charlotte in 2000 and her B.A. from UNC at Chapel Hill in 1997.

Jack Scott, Founder and recently retired Senior Partner of Evaluator Group, was responsible for sales to vendors, ongoing operations, and was instrumental in setting company direction. He has many years of computer industry experience with IBM, Memorex and Storage Technology Corporation where he contributed in senior management positions in marketing, sales and product management. Additionally he has been a consultant focusing on marketing high technology products. This strong industry background and expertise has positioned him for his latest role in advising and educating companies on the complex issues of compliance.
Jack’s expertise spans storage hardware and software technology. He was responsible for the definition and roll out of the IBM 3420; 3-5-7; the first of the 9 track/6250 BPI density magnetic tape subsystems; the roll out of the IBM 3850 Mass Storage System, the first important self contained hierarchical storage system employing both disk and tape technology; the definition and roll out of the first buffered disk subsystems at StorageTek as well as the first solid state disk channel attached to IBM mainframe processors. Continuing this leadership role he gave top level direction for the definition of StorageTek’s successful magnetic tape library, lead the team that defined the requirements for the Iceberg disk system and managed StorageTek’s entry into open systems attachments.
He is a frequent speaker on a variety of compliance and storage topics; a member of the Board of Directors of Cheetah International, a software developer of captioning systems; and, immediate past-chairman of EmTAG – the Emerging Technology Advisory Group of AIIM which is the principal trade organization for enterprise content management.
