ITIM 2007 Conference Track Descriptions
IT Business Management
This track focuses on running IT like a business. Learn the
skills necessary to manage people and resources, benchmark
success, measure total cost of ownership and ultimately improve
the overall performance of the IT organization and the value it
provides to the business.
IT Business Alignment & Governance
IT strategies and goals must be consistent with the overall
business objectives of the organization. By definition,
IT/business alignment requires establishing mechanisms to
improve relationships and ensure common agreement about what
will be done, how, by whom and when. Learn best practices and
methods to align your IT organization with the strategic goals
of the business and how to improve IT processes to ensure
compliance with SOX, Cobit, ISO and other regulatory
requirements.
Technology Trends
This track is for the IT manager responsible for selecting,
implementing and maintaining the IT infrastructure and
applications and the services they deliver to the business. Find
out how new and emerging technologies can improve the way we do
business, resulting in cost savings and improved efficiencies,
while ultimately maximizing the overall profitability of the
business. And, learn how to effectively manage a smooth rollout
of new hardware and applications, without disruption to the
business.
Data Security and Storage
Data security and effective data storage management are among
the most important and challenging issues facing IT managers
today. This track will focus on cost-effective ways to implement
formal processes and strategies for optimal data storage
business continuity and information security, ensuring
compliance with SOX and other regulatory mandates facing IT.
Strategic Sourcing
The talent of your workforce is critical to the success of your
IT organization. A sourcing strategy entails providing the right
resources and skills for the right price to deliver against
defined requirements and business needs. Learn how to navigate,
manage and leverage the capabilities of the IT workforce in
order to achieve maximum benefit.
IT Service Management
IT organizations are increasingly adopting service management
disciplines, frameworks and best practice processes to improve
performance, reduce costs and compete with external sourcing
alternatives. This track will focus on practical processes that
must be in place to maximize and support the overall success of
IT.
ITIL Implementation
ITIL provides a comprehensive framework of reality-based practices
for continuously improving the integrated IT service support and
delivery model. ITIL is not a step-by-step methodology. This track
will focus on the “how to” of ITIL implementation by reviewing the
successes and failures of organizations that have traveled the ITIL
Implementation road and are eager to impart the practical lessons
they learned along the way.
